Boho Blooms Boutqiue

Morgan, owner of Boho Blooms Boutique, has a heart of gold and years of retail expereince!

I love a good local boutique and Boho Blooms Boutique is no exception! We have such a wonderful variety of clothing styles and options at the various boutiques in our town, and Boho is the perfect place to find your prints, colors, natural fabrics, and unique pieces. From fun accessories to the perfect leather bags, exciting tops and your everyday jeans. There is something for everyone, including kids! Let’s dive into our local Bohemian vibes and learn about the start of Boho and what we can expect in the future.

This month is the 4 YEAR ANNIVERSARY of the Grand Opening of Boho Blooms Boutique. The owner, Morgan, used to be a teacher and in June of 2018 she quit teaching to chase her dreams! One week after she was done with school, she started the renovations on her shop. The original structure of Boho was a 2 car garage and in the summer of 2018 Morgan and her mom did all of the renovations themselves. Every year in August there is a big weekend event for their anniversary where Morgan has great shopping deals and other vendors. She loves having the “market” feel and fills her outdoor area with other local businesses during her celebration. Check out the Facebook post here and make your plans to attend!

Morgan with her article she has saved from SA Life. It was written on her store, Mo’Ashley, when she was first starting her career as a boutique owner, as a high schooler!

Morgan started her boutique journey when she was only 16 years old. Many of you that have been around town for a while may remember the store Mo’Ashley that was in the Blue Casa Village. Morgan was a junior in high school when she started Mo’Ashley and her senior year was able to participate in the school’s co-op program and be her own boss! Besides her own experiences, Morgan’s mom has always been in retail as well. Morgan says that retail is in her veins, but decided to go to college, get a degree, and make a plan outside of retail, but always felt the pull of retail. She participated in Verdi Markets throughout her 4-5 years of teaching, had booths in other shops, and even worked at her moms shop. Retail never left her and it was only a matter of time until she went full-time with her dreams!

Boho was just around 450 square feet when the doors first opened, and just last year they doubled their floor space with a new addition, plus here recently they expended into a back room to create a children’s area! About a year ago Boho launched a website as well. The growth has been slow an steady, which allows Morgan to continue to dream and work out each of her goals as they come. One of Morgan’s main goals with Boho is to bring the community and businesses together! She wants our community to be a one-stop-shop for anything someone could need and she wants to keep people shopping local. She sees so many untapped opportunities to bring our community together. Some of her goals include helping families in need, helping businesses work together, or creating more community events within our area. It fills her cup when everyone works together and she feels that there is enough love and support to go around in our town! People and businesses don’t have to compete here, but can uplift, encourage, and share one another. Morgan saw this need in our community and brought the Jingle and Mingle idea to our town! After the success of the first one, Morgan truly felt that her goals of unity and mutual support were possible. She says this has been one of her favorite moments so far as the owner of Boho, and it showed her that it is possible to bring the businesses here and the people here together. It allowed her to show the community that each business is unique and has something to offer, without having to compete or bring down another business.

Morgan and her sweet as can be girls!

Jumping to the opposite end of the spectrum, when asked what her least favorite thing has been during the last 4 years, she said the housekeeping end of Boho, but it has to get done. From bookkeeping, to behind the scenes organization, to overall coverage of everything that makes the business operational. She works hard to keep things running smoothly, but it’s the side that no one ever sees, and it’s the not-so-glamorous area of owning a boutique. As much fun as it would be to just buy clothes, put outfits together, and talk with customers, there’s so much more to it. Morgan works a lot and is so dedicated to her job and to her customers. Even when there a million things to do behind the scenes, she is always willing to help someone pick something out or answer questions about products. She gives so much of herself to this business, her community, and her customers, and it shows!

Morgan has a contagious personality and a heart that you can feel when you talk to her, and it shines through in so many ways. Some are the ways mentioned above, but some are her reasoning behind Boho. She didn’t start this business to make tons of money or have flexibility of time. (plus I think all business owners can agree that you really don’t get much time off as your own boss!) Morgan says she has always struggled with her weight and when starting Boho, she wanted a place that all women can feel happy, comfortable, and welcome. She wanted to carry cute clothes in a variety of sizes, so that anyone could walk through her doors and find joy in shopping for a new outfit!

I am so proud of Morgan and the ways she is utilizing her passion for retail, to fulfill the goals in her heart for our community and other local businesses. If you haven’t yet stopped by Boho, do so soon (it’s bright teal and hard to miss!). There is a team of the sweetest girls in there that can help you with anything. Today through Thursday, use code Homegrown to get 15% off your purchase on the website.
